This furnace chimney was loose and crumbling above the roof line due to saturation decay. The mortar joints were cracked crumbling and loose at the roof line and the roofer had installed masonry flashing incorrectly (Extremely common in the Portland Metro Area). This furnace chimney needed to be dismantled and rebuilt reusing the vintage brick in the period style design. Check out our before and after photos below.
After 28 days of curing time, we will come back to install a proper chimney cap and water seal this chimney from the top down 100% using two coats of our industrial grade masonry water seal treatment.
