Gas Inserts

A Gas Insert is a hearth appliance that is designed to install into an existing firebox cavity. Typically an old brick masonry built firebox and fireplace chimney. These can also be installed into a existing factory built fireplace and chimney built of sheet metal box and metal chimney pipe venting through a wood framed chimney chase.  Gas fireplace inserts are the ideal retrofit solution for many home owners who want the best value. These systems are user friendly because all you have to do is push the On button on your remote or wall switch.

They come in a wide variety of sizes and designs, that include customized faceplate and trim options to maximize the viewing inside the firebox. They are very efficient heaters that can warm up a cold space in minutes. The flame has a variable control for your desired mood. Turn on the variable speed blower to achieve your desired temperature and set a smart thermostat feature on the remote so when the room begins to get hot the fireplace will turn off.

The installation process includes minimal demo to the existing firebox so that we can properly clean out all debris from the original smoke chambers. This allows us to extend a new gas line into the firebox with an emergency shut off valve before the gas line connection to the appliance, then we extend power into the original firebox so we can plug in the blower cord. Then there are no cords on the hearth and the trim fits perfectly. Don’t worry if the power goes out this fireplace will still work. There is a battery back up electronic ignition. The only thing that doesn’t work if the power goes out is the blower fan.

Gas Log Sets

A gas log set is designed to convert an existing open fireplace that is wood burning to gas. There are many manufacturers of gas log sets and they range from 16″ to custom built lengths of 10′. A log set is proportionately sized to the fireplace and chimney it is being installed into. You need to know the width and height of your fireplace opening as well as the diameter of the interior wall of your chimney flue. It’s crucial to have us come out and perform a proper NFPA211 inspection to ensure a proper conversion is complete. We see lots of log sets that are not properly sized that cause carbon monoxide poisoning to the indoor air quality. This is why it imperative to have a certified Chimney Technician perform an inspection and make a recommendation on proper sizing of the new gas burning system.
